Monday 17 December 2012

I have been designing my next table , watch this space and see the design.

I am still trying to find places to sell my tables , I have not found anywhere at the moment.
My friend has put them on on EBay for 1 day to see how they go. He said people have  been looking at the tables and one of the tables someone asked the  buy it now price .

Its a start I will keep looking and see where it takes me , my next step is to put them on twitter and upload the photos see what response  I get. I did find a possible place to start up but the space is too small for my tables.

I will let you know how i get on

Bye for know

Monday 15 October 2012

Just to keep up to date with you all at the moment I haven't found anyone to do a pop up shop with. At the moment another option is to  see about a studio.

My friend has put my tables on eBay at the moment to let more people see the tables I have made if you want to see them my friend is pete312964.

The tables were put on last night to see what sort of response they get and to see peoples opinions. If you are interested let me know what you think

Sunday 12 August 2012

Starting to get nearer to one goal and that is to do my first pop up shop. I have had contact from a lead from the Manchester Furniture show that was held at the G-Mex in Manchester in July this year. At the moment I have emailed the students that I was at college with. At the moment I am waiting to here back from them to see what they say.
I have to see what costs are involved to see what the next step will be. I will let you know when I have arranged everything I will post it on my blog.

Saturday 4 August 2012

More research going on to find places to sell my unique tables the shop I am hoping to sell my tables is small the owner loves my tables it is just that their store is small.
So the search goes on , if I had the funds myself I would set up a shop myself with plenty of space. Space and money is the issue.
Any way I am not deterred I am in the middle of up cycling an old style wardrobe, I will put pictures on to show end to beginning then you can all see the wow factor.

Sunday 29 July 2012

My next step is looking into funding and bursaries to get me started for a work shop or maybe sharing a space.
My issue at the moment is that my job has gone at school through  budget cut backs, so getting the funding or premises to make and sell my tables is priority.
I will let you know how I get on! but in the mean time I am working on an old wardrobe to bring it back to its best. I will put the pictures on when I get started and show you all my progress.

My Ski table number 2

This is my pencil sketch of my ski table

The sketch is my first drawing on my table made from a mirror, ski's, wood and pebble tiles.

below are the images of stages i have gone through in the process of making my table from the reclaimed materials which i have sourced locally

The image shows some of the joints for the frame of the table and the best to use to make the table frame stronger.

Here I have laid out my flat pebble tiles and stuck them on with a glass and tiles glue from a locally.
The images below were taken in college through various stages from the tiles being stuck on the mirror to the frame of the table being painted to the design and finishing touches to the legs of the table.

Here is my finished ski table and available to buy , I have painted the legs with colours to Tye in with the ski colours and to add to the finish and to protect the white paint finish I have used Acrylic varnish to keep the white finish and to help stop any yellowing. If you are interested in having a commission piece then contact me and let me know what you are looking for .
My next table  which is my 3rd table is made from Glass, Acrylic watch this space for my drawings and finished table

3rd of the show at the G-mex in Manchester, we had interior designers and shop keepers interested in having our products we have created in college and at home. We will just have to see where it takes us.

Tuesday 26 June 2012

As promised here are the pictures of my ideas from sketch to my finished tables.

My original front door

My first table design and stages I went through

This is the original door, would you ever think that this door could turn out to be the finished table at the end. Just wait to see the end result.
After i sketched out my idea onto paper the next step was to get the door to college and get it cut to sizes and remove all the hinges, locks, and screws and paint.
It took around 15 hours to remove all the paint, I used a heat gun and scraper. I also used Nitro morse, sandpaper , white spirit besides the tools like the tablesaw and circular saw and drills , screwdriver , gloves and safety glasses and apron.

The images show the steps in me removing the paint ,as each week went on the results started to show slowly ,at one point i thought would i ever get the paint off. When you get to the end and see the finished table you will see the distressed look of my table. It may of took time to remove the paint as i could of gone to a dip and strip place to get them to remove the paint  for me but I wouldn't of got the end finish.

Here you can see that i have fininished removing the paint, it took some time but it was well worth the effort. Doing this project at college has shown what i can do and what anyone can do if they set their minds to it.
Finally the hard work is over here is the finished table .
Let me know what you think about my design .
